I was born in Guyana, the first of five children. We had no television then, so our only entertainment came from A tracks or a turntable. There was a song for every occasion it seemed, so my siblings and I spent many days singing and dancing around the house for our own enjoyment.
My family moved to Barbados in 1981 where I grew up, however, music always stayed with me. Even if it meant me harmonising a jingle on the radio or television. I recollect a time when my parents filled a room with musical instruments and equipment, and my siblings and I had band rehearsals. We mainly sang together at church and provided entertainment on occasion for guest when they visited our home.
My two sisters and I entered a local Teen Talent show in 1994 as a trio called “Symphony” We also did backing vocals for “Sharon Darlington” at the Caribbean Song Contest and for the Junior Calypso Monarch, “Starlight” (our sister Tamara Williams) in 1992. We also backed the gospel singer “Valerie Boyd” on her tour to Barbados, recorded an LP where we did backing vocals for “Daddy I Roy” now known as “De Warrior” on a single called “Crime Don’t Pay” and performed at many shows and night clubs until our interests took us in different directions. He was the one back then to encourage us to start writing our own songs which would have come into fruition for me only years later.

Predestined as it were, every season found me within a group or some activity involving singing or music. I have been apart of my school Choir, various Church Choirs such as The Power in The Blood Chorale / Choir and The Silvertones of Barbados. While apart of a female gospel group called “Shekinah Exodus” we ministered at many events and shared the stage with a few international singers. We held the title of “Female Gospel Group of the Year in 2000. I have also ministered within quartets, trios, duets, even presenting an occasional solo in the mix. My preference then though was singing within groups as I love making harmony and remaining in the background.
I have been writing songs as led by God through dreams I might have had over the years and the melodies and lyrics that fill my mind as I go about my day to day tasks. All that He has been preparing me for is being perfected as I launch out upon this new journey with Him.
