Leshimpiro Daniel (born August 08, 1987) better known by his stage name Samlyong, is a Kenyan Gospel Hip Hop musician. He is best known for his debut hit single “Huru”.

EARLY LIFE
Leshimpiro Daniel was born in Garissa County in North Eastern Kenya. He grew up in Embakasi Nairobi. Samlyong wanted to be a musician from class 8 and performed on stage for the first time at the age of 17 at a Koelel high school talent show.

CAREER
Samlyong recorded his first song with Tripee of Smogiz, a veteran hip hop group in Kenya at Tripees home studio in buruburu. He was in his first year in college where he was studying graphic design at buruburu institute of fine arts. In 2008, Samlyong appeared on One Gospel’s show On The Mic where he performed a number of his songs to a live audience. He joined Mahanaim Theology College in 2011 and served as a missionary in Kampala, Kigali and Bujumbura.

He served as co-pastor in Good News Mission church in Kitengela branch till 2013, this is when he recorded the song His Love as a testimony of how Jesus had saved him from drug addiction and depression, and given him new hope in the gospel.

In early 2015, a friend of Samlyong, his producer Mgangez of Swagg City Records produced the beat for the song that would eventually become his debut single “Huru”. The song received major airplay on Truth fm. In early 2016 the video for Huru was shot by another friend of Samlyong, Yulu of Solid Bold Productions.
