The Event That was.
We (The GMP Team) arrived at the venue at 4pm (EAT) and preperations were in their last phase as the stage was set, and chairs in the main auditorium well arranged.
People had already started coming in. Thanks to those time keepers. By the time it was clocking to 6:pm, the attendance was good enough and the Blended band begun to lead the crowd through praise and worship. Slowly by slowly as people continued to come in, The band led the crowd with an energetic performance.
About the blended band.
The band composed of 4 ladies and 2 gentle men for backup singers, 2 gentlemen on keyboards , 1 on the drums, 1 on the bass guitor and a one Charmant Mushaga also on the strings. In a nutshell the band was smartly dressed and they delivered a magnificent performance which blessed the worship experience.
Artistes on stage
Among the invited artistes, Levivone was the first to come on stage to perform Samanya and Ani. These two songs got people singing along . It was a good way to start the artiste list. Levixone later thanked everyone for coming to support Jackie and informed the crowd of his upcoming Charity concert @ Royal suites bugolobi on 30th oct 2016 dubbed Levixone and friends in a Share love charity concert.
Twiina Herbert then followed on stage where he performed the peoples favourite Sabisanila a true worship song. The crowd knew almost every lyric of the song as they sung along in worship to the almighty God.
At this moment the attendance at the event was good. The main auditorium was half full and the overflow almost full. Brian Lubega the psalmist came on stage with Wakitibwaand the famous Nungamwa. The way people were singing along shows that this Man of God is so loved.
Brian was followed by Coopy Bly who just completed his concert that he called One Last Time, which meant His Last time as a barchelor as hes set to wed very soon. He performed Akikwasaganyaand a song he did with Fortune spice. This song captivated the crowd immencely as the lyrics spoke to everyone as they sung along. Am talking of Kulukuta btw.
At this point people were relaxed after all the worship, so they needed something to Chamukate them (Something Hyper) and that’s when Morgan Isaac one of the pioneers of gospel Music in Uganda came on stage. He performed better dan dem and concluded with champion a hyper jam that got both the young and the old jumping among the crowd.
Jackie’s first appearance.
At this time, the main Artiste of the day came on stage dressed in a navy blue dress that reached a little bit below the knees in front and almost touched the ground. She also wore a pair of kaki leather like wedge timberland shoes that got everyone in the croud wowing and gazing in amazement. Jackie also had on Golden jewelry.
She performed Yesu Njagala Nkufanane - Gyogenda gyenagenda - Yesu gwe Amanyi Ebyange. Many know the song for different tittles based on their favourite verse in the song. Its one of Jackie’s oldest songs that’s loved by many.
The backup singers danced with amaizing dance moves as she went Nigerian, singing in a Nigerian accent. One could think that Jackie is Uganda’s Sinach or Sinach is uganda’s Jackie Senyonjo. Hehe. You will agree with me if you attended the event or have listened to Jackie’ssongs.
The songbird delivered hit after hit as she did Olopela ani. This particular song, she did it while kneeling down saying ndopela gwe, meaning everything she reports to God.
Mukama yensonga, a song for which she recently released an Amaizing video, was the one she performed next before she did Tagobela bwelu and Nandibadewa?
At this point People had come in large numbers, though others were still coming in. The overflow was almost full to capacity and the main auditorium half full. BTW it’s a very big hall. And based on the volume the turnup was good.
It's at this point that Jackie went international as she did Alabaster box. One could think cece winanswas on stage. Jackie blended in the song very well as if she was the original composer. Her amaizing voice and singing experience pulled this off. She also performed Hillsong’s mighty to save amoung other worship songs.
Jackie later sermoned the ladies in the crowd. At this point one who knew Jackie’s songs would predict what was about to follow. Okuba omukazi, asong for the ladies. That means (Being A lady,….)
Jackie later pulled out Charmant mushaga from the band and sat him on a chair which was a sign that Jackie was about to perform Tula Tuwaye. (sit and we converse). Charmant did what he does best with the guitar as Jackie sung. Jackie later brought the mich near Carmant so that he can sing too. Btw he is a good singer. chech him out.
The Jackie formation.
We called it the Jackie formation, because its the first of its kind we have ever seen. Now whats the Jackie Formation? Well its when Jackie would trade places with one of the backup singers as she Joined the lead singers and gave her mic to a backup singer who led-sung. Hope that makes sence. Trust me it was amaizing. Got me wishing I was that backup singer. Hehe.
There was a small break as the band sung Tukutendereza. (obviously that couldn’t miss on a worship experience)
Ronnie one of the MCs read John 8:6 : They did this to trap Jesus, so that they could accuse him. But he bent over and wrote on the ground with his finger.[GoodNews] as the crowd watched a video projected on the screen above the stage. The animated video by Joseph prince titled what exactly happened at the cross is A must watch. After the video, Ronnie asked the crowd if anyone wants to give or rededicate their lives to christ and prayed for them as hands went up among the crowd.
As Jackie took a short break, Justine Nabbosa of the Olikatonda fame came on stage decently dressed as a woman of God to do the song that altered the crowd to the holy place. Joseph Segawa later came on stage then Pr. Wilson Bugembeof Lengela Embata, and Kani among other hit songs.
Pr. Bugembe performedDaala, one of his latest songs that got the crowd jumping. He was later joined By Justine Nabossa with whom they minister at the same church, Light the world church Nansana. The two were later Joinde by Jackie Senyojo as she came for her second and last session.
The three Made a good trio on stage the way each sung along on each others songs. It was an epic experience. At this moment, depending on twitter, many attendees were saying "ezange ziweddeyo" meaning they were certisfied with the performance.
Jackie's Sense of Humour.
It was after Pr. Bugembe made a statement that Gospel Music Has come from a far and thanked God for where it is right now that Jackie said "God doesn’t beat there" A directly translated statement that means Mukama takubilayo, that is loosely translated God doesn’t disappoint. This cracked everyone as most people who kwew luganda knew exactly what she meant.
At this point, winding the event, Jackie performed Kanindeko mukama (Let me wait on God). And later handed the mic to her daughter who sung Netaaga gwe, an award winning song. The little angle really did justice to the song, she was appreciated by the crowd, that she even forgot the keys on the stage due to the love she was shown.
A prayer to dedicate Jackie and her family was made and the event came to an end.
